cpap masks

CPAP masks, an acronym for continuous positive airway pressure, are one of the most widely used therapeutic interventions for sleep apnea. Those who wear the masks deal with a device that uses a controlled air compressor to generate and air stream at a constant pressure, preventing the apneas from occurring. The pressure used varies among patients, and depends on the results of an overnight examination where the breathing is constantly monitored.

The proper use of CPAP masks and machines provide the sleeper with many additional benefits. Sleepers find that after just a couple uses of the machine, they are more energetic and less drowsy at work. Additionally, the partners of the sleepers report less snoring during the night. Because of the low amount of oxygen the sleepers receive during a typical night's sleep, sleepers with sleep apnea also report a decrease in the painful migraines throughout the day. The positive effects on their lives are absolutely endless!

Sleep apnea machines also offer several optional pieces that can help make the process more comfortable for users. A humidifier moistens the air and can help alleviate the discomfort of dry compressed air. A ramp is another optional feature that temporarily lowers air pressure to help the sleeper fall asleep. Another option is the exhalation pressure relief, which adjusts the pressure during exhalation. Finally, flexible chin straps can be added to help keep the candidate from breathing through the mouth. CPAP machines can be highly effective in treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. In many of the cases, the improvement in the quality of sleep and quality of life due to CPAP treatment will be noticed after a single night's use. One of the most common problems for those dealing with sleep apnea therapy is getting used to the treatment. Adjusting to using the machinery at night can understandably take some time. Many doctors are open to making a few adjustments to the therapy and will usually recommend cognitive behavior exercises when a patient can't seem to get used to their treatment.

Those fitted for CPAP use will need to become familiar with all the features and overall care. This ensures that they can get the best out of their sleep apnea therapy. If you are a suitable sleep apnoea and snoring candidate, you will first have to undergo a CPAP pressure set sleep study before you receive your nasal mask. Once you've had your sleep apnea device configured to your breathing, you and your mask will return home. It's important to realize that you should not use a CPAP machine unless you've been advised to do so by your doctor. There are many places online that sell these machines without needing a doctor's note or perception, but using an incorrect setting for its pressure can irritate your lungs at night. You also don't want to rely on a CPAP machine if instead you should be concentrating on treating a certain medical condition or on losing weight or whatever else may be causing your breathing problems.
