Respironics' LX passover humidifier helps to minimize the effects of nasal dryness for increased patient comfort during CPAP or Respironics' bi-level therapy. The durable Oasis humidifier offers high levels of humidity and easy cleaning. It is part of our Great Performers Series and can be used with all CPAP systems and Respironics' BiPAP and auto-CPAP systems.
An alternative to traditional passover humidifiers. Patented baffle and tower design increases humidity output beyond traditional passover humidifiers and is roughly equivalent to a heated humidifier at the medium heat setting. Two part design can be taken apart for easy cleaning and disinfecting; no water traps. Increases relative humidity above ambient, reducing the effects of nasal dryness. Cool, passover system does not require electricity. No disposable parts to replace. Specially designed to perform with the Virtuoso Smart CPAP system and Quartet Clinical System.
How it works: The Oasis humidifier uses a patented internal design to provide high humidity levels with low pressure drop. Humidification is acheived through the process of evaporation or the transformation of liquid H2O into gas. In the traditional passover systems, the rate of evaporation was influenced by the initial temperature of the water in the humidifier, the temperature of the room, the surface area of the water. With the Oasis humidifier, the air flows through a series of baffles built into the top and bottom. These baffles direct the air and add turbulence as it passes through the humidifier. The baffles increase evaporation in several ways: Increased velocity of air over the water surface. While the average velocity of the air within the humidifier is the same for all humidifiers, the turbulence created by the baffles in the Oasis causes regions of faster flow. Where the faster flow contacts the liquid surface, evaporation is increased. Airflow is directed towards the water surface in traditional passover humidifiers, the airflow is parallel to the water surface. With Oasis, the baffles direct the flow of air towards the surface of the water at an angle. The increased angle of flow relative to the water surface in the Oasis humidifier increases the evaporation rate. Improved mixing of wet and dry air within the humidifier: The baffles within Oasis mix the air within the humidifier. As a result, more air is exposed to the water surface. The baffles in Oasis harvest more of the energy available in the air for increased humidity levels. |
